Ever wonder what a child of Depeche Mode would sound like? Or if the Editors decided to speed things up a bit? Or if the National got synthy?
White Lies’ third album, “Big TV,” (in stores Aug. 20 on Harvest Records) is a smorgasbord of appealing touches and styles. What it lacks is a unique identified of who you are listening to. I don’t mean this as a knock against the band, because most of these songs are enjoyable. But when there’s so many similar options, White Lies may have a hard time competing with the better established artists. The band will perform at the Great American Music Hall on Oct. 9.
Listen: “There Goes Our Love Again.”
